Carlos Sainz says that despite showing the "true pace" of the SF-23 in Canada, Ferrari were able to further understand weaknesses with their Formula 1 car.
After a poor showing from the Scuderia in Barcelona, the team took fourth and fifth in Montreal, but both Sainz and Charles Leclerc were far happier with the car, being able to run long on Medium tyres in free air having not pitted under the early Safety Car.
The performance in Canada was aided by the fact that the circuit features less high-speed corners than in Spain, with a variety of chicanes and the hairpin broken up by the long straights.
Sainz believes that the high-speed weakness of the SF-23 package was backed up early in the weekend.

Sainz on Ferrari performance
"I knew Barcelona wasn't a good track for us, and that Canada was going to be better," Sainz told media, including RacingNews365.com, after his fourth fifth place finish in the last five races.
"It was confirmed on Friday pace, that lower degradation circuits and ones with slower speed corners we are stronger at, and [it meant] we could show a bit more our true pace [in the race].
"Our pace in Austria will depend a lot on the characteristics of the circuit, our pace varies a lot depending on that.
"We see places like Monaco or Canada we are stronger at than places with higher speed corners like Barcelona, where we struggle a bit more, so I think we will see variations in our competitiveness."
